From San Jorge - Port of Exit
60 min to Moyogalpa (17 km)
80 min to San José (24 km)
There are 2 main ports of entry on Ometepe, the main one is Moyogalpa where there are many services for everyone - Nicas, travellers & expats.
Just off the port you can easily find moto rentals, taxis, tuk-tuk's, chicken buses, shops, restaurants, groceries, liquor stores, pharmacies, ATM's, banks & 2 gas stations.
The other port is - San José (Yellow) - there are no services here - but there are a few taxi operators that may be available.
If you are driving to the island with your own vehicle this will get you to the other side of the island (Concepción) much quicker.
What do I pay to get on the Ferry?
$1 USD Tourist Tax at the main white gate.
C$50 per person (kids under 5 are free)
Tickets at kiosk at end of the parking lot.
NOTE:
Don't lose the ticket! It is collected on the ferry.

Returing to San Jorge - there is no Tourist Tax.
Drop off fee - Moyogalpa
C$10 if you park your moto at the port,
C$50 if you part your car/truck at the port.
(New Port Tax)
C$50 per person (kids under 5 are free)
Fee is payble on each vessel.

To reserve - your car, light truck & bulk delivery items (ie. construction materials, furniture, etc)
make arrangements 24-72 hours before you arrive to the port with the ferry of your choice.
NOTE:
Motos do not need to reserve.
First come, first serve.
MOTO | SCOOTER: C$75 fee payable at the office adjacent to the parking lot.
PASSENGER CAR: C$450 fee payable at the office adjacent to the parking lot.
TRUCK | HILUX: C$450 fee payable at the office adjacent to the parking lot.
NOTE:
It is wise to reserve your Car or Truck with the ferry of your choice - 24 to 72 hrs before you arrive to assure you get to your final destination without delays. There are many vehicles that reserve every day.

The "Lancha style" boats look a bit weathered but they are totally safe and cost a bit less than the ferry. Not as many seats for passengers - so bring a hat!
They do not operate on Sundays.
These boats are mostly used for transporting loose freight & construction materials. Call for pricing & availability for you freight to be shipped from San Jorge.
Between November & February in the windy season - the waves on the lake are pretty choppy.
If you are prone to seasickness it is better to take the more stable ferry vessels.
The ferry schedule is always the same; holidays, Christmas, New Years & Easter.
NOTE:
There is no ferry service from Granada to Ometepe as the water levels are too low.
